Below are the items available for Aeratis Custom Shutters assembled by MainStreet Restorations. There are many different configurations when using the below hardware. All hardware can be used with wood or synthetic shutters. Just make sure you check with shutter manufacturer for the right number of hinges and product thickness. 

New York Hinge Kit

The New York Style “L” Hinge and Pintles are the most common hinges sold for operable shutters. All New York L hinges and pintles made by Aeratis only come in stainless steel. Our philosophy is simple, why buy a shutter that will last a lifetime only to put hinges on the shutters that will rust or decay.  Aeratis hinges are warranted not rust and allow you to open and close your shutters. All Aeratis New York style hinges, and screws are made of stainless steel. All shutter hardware is scratch resistant, powder-coated black.

The New York Style “L” hinge and pintles are the most common hinges sold for operable shutters.  These hinges will not rust and will allow you to open and close your shutters. All Aeratis New York style hinges are made of stainless-steel as are all screws to mount and secure your hinges to the shutters. All shutter hardware is powder-coated black and is scratch resistant.

Included: 2 left hinges, 2 right hinges, 6 pintles, 6 pintle shims and 16, stainless-steel shutter screws (1-1/4”) and 18 pintle screws (2”). All screws are T-20 Star head drive and are powder coated black.

Shutter Dogs

Each pair of Aeratis shutters include an aluminum scroll dog, stainless steel lag bolt and our patent pending scroll dog shutter support. The Scroll Dog is aluminum and all lag bolts are stainless steel. The shutter support is placed over the lag bolt and adds additional support to your custom Aeratis shutters. All Scroll Dogs and lag bolts are powder coated black.

Shutter Support

One of the major challenges for operable shutters is the force of gravity on the side of the shutter that is not attached by hinges. Over time, even if the material is structural, moisture and heat mixed with the force of gravity can cause shutters to droop. Aeratis has engineered a shutter support. This vital piece of hardware is made from stainless steel and fits over the shutter dog lag bolt. The vertical member stays upright because of the set screws which are tightened when the lag bolt is in the proper position. When positioned properly, the shutter support is completely hidden behind the shutter or scroll dog.

Aeratis Lull & Porter (that will not rust)

Aeratis now offers the historic Lull & Porter hinge in a unique material, zinc-alloy. This hinge has the same appearance and function of the cast iron Lull and Porter hinges but will not rust or oxidize. In addition, all Aeratis Lull & Porter hinges come with stainless steel star head screws that allow you to secure your shutters and hinges without the worry of oxidation or rusting. These hinges allow for an inside mount for shutters. When ordering Aeratis shutters, they can come pre-mortised or it can be done on the job site. When using Aeratis Shutters with any hinge, the shutter support must be installed on the shutter dog lag bolt.

Aeratis Stainless Steel Lag Pintle

Lag Pintles are used in special applications where a conventional pintle will not work. Examples are stone openings, uneven surfaces etc. Lag Pintles are made from stainless steel to hold up in even the harshest environments. Designed to work with all Aeratis New York style hinges.

Aeratis Hidden Stay

Hidden stays are sold in pairs. All components are stainless steel. Stays help keep the shutters from rattling in high winds. Contents include 2 headless fasteners, 2 acorns, 2 clasps and 4 stainless steel mounting screws.

Aeratis Bahama Shutter Kits

Bahama Hinge Kite Includes Hinge and Stays with all Fasteners

This continuous hinge is made of two parts which slide together for easy installation and is made from aluminum to avoid rust. This hinge is sold in 60” lengths to be cut to whatever length is needed. This hinge allows the Bermuda or Bahama shutter to be removed easily when not needed by simply sliding sideways. This hinge set can be painted to match shutters or hardware. Works for shutters up to 1 1/2″ thick. See illustrations below for measurements and installation.

Bahama Stays

This pair of lightweight and sturdy stays is adjustable from 22″ to 34″ length. This set can be used for small to large Bahama or Bermuda shutters and is made out of aluminum to avoid rust. This set comes with brass pins for attaching the rod to the brackets when the shutter is held open. When the shutter is to be closed during a storm the rods can be removed and the brackets locked together to keep the shutter fastened. The bars can also be cut to smaller lengths if desired. Optional sill mount brackets are included with this set. The stay rods measure 15/16″ in diameter and the brackets are 3 9/16″ long by 1 3/16″ in width and project 1 1/2″.
